If you are into chasing trophy trout seriously, that means you will be out in the elements a little more than that Saturday afternoon outing with the wife or girlfriend. Besides being warm and comfortable, you will need some good, reliable rain gear. I have been using my Viking Wear from Alliance Mercantile, Inc. for almost 10 years now and pretty much have it in my truck with me 24/7 wherever I go.

I personally like the Journeyman 420 D pants and jacket to stay dry and protected from the wind. The Denier 420 nylon outer shell does a great job of both and I still have plenty of freedom to move around. The jacket has a removable hood that is attached with Velcro and snaps. It also features an outer drawstring to keep the elements out. Flaps over the two large hip pockets protect the zipper closure to keep everything in and any moisture out. There is also a small chest pocket for glasses, small flashlight or whatever you need.

The pants give plenty of room and have a snap-off front bib cover for added chest area protection. The suspenders are completely adjustable and very comfortable. I especially like the long leg zippers that allow for getting over boots without taking them off. They also feature a Velcro adjustment for tightening the leg openings to keep the rain and wind out.
