I moved to Central Oregon in 1995 in part, to pursue big trout. I consider this area to be the “trophy trout capital” of the west and the state records for various species support this. Consider a 9 lb. brook trout, 40 lb. lake trout, 28 lb. brown trout, 23 lb. bull trout and the second largest rainbow of 24 lb. coming from lakes within a 100-mile radius of Bend, Oregon..

I spent my first few years learning the lakes of the area and working on techniques. This has paid off with numerous trophy trout including a 19 lb. 6 oz. brown trout from Wickiup, 25 lb. lake trout from Crescent, 13 lb. rainbow trout from Klamath Lake, 15 lb. bull trout from Billy Chinook and 5 lb. 12 oz. brook trout from Crane Prairie.
