Lake
Billy Chinook 3-31-05
As it sometimes goes, when
you really want to impress someone it often falls flat.
This was the case this last Thurs. morning when I finally
had Scott Lewis the PGE fish biologist out with me for the
morning. We picked up one small dink bull off the point
past the island run. With only one other fish hooked and
lost, the fishing that morning was really tough.
It was really interesting to get to know Scott and
discuss the state of the fishery at Billy Chinook. As I
mentioned before, the kokanee numbers have dropped drastically
the past few years and the bulls will be affected as well
as their forage base dwindles.
The last half of the day was redeemed when my buddy Bill
Amerongen joined me for the afternoon run. We started picking
up fish around 2:00 and ended up with 5 bulls going from
4-8 lb.
The next week will be fun fishing with a buddy from Cal.
for browns. Look for a write up next weekend when I get
back.
