Fishing
Report 3-20-06
A
dear friend from Spokane called last week and said he would
really like to get out a day to fish with me. George Mowry
is probably one of the most influential people in my life
and I was thrilled at the thought of a day together. He
arrived the day before and we went through the license and
permit drill at G.I. Joe's that afternoon so we could get
out early on Mon.
It was clear the night before and 17 degrees was what we
faced when we got up. The forecast looked good with highs
predicted in the 50's and little or no wind. Just what the
Dr. ordered! Fishing was slow early but soon we got popped
on a small bull. At least we broke the ice. Around 11:00
a.m. the bite took off and we connected on a bull or a bite
every pass off the point. Unfortunately, the best fish we
had on chewed us off right before we got him up. The line
that Owner claims to 25 Lb. test looks a little less to
me on their Boa-Rigs. I switched to them in conjunction
with the Pro-Troll Roto-Chip baitholder rigs to get into
some leaders with barbed hooks.
We
landed 8 bulls with most at 2-3 Lb. We did catch a couple
of 4's and finally an 8 Lb. fish topped the day. The weather
was perfect and we enjoyed each others company as we watched
the bald eagles doing their annual mating ritual.
We are getting tuned up for our DVD shoot coming up in two
weeks. Look for an article to follow what that week brings
us.
