I got this report from Shaun Rainsbarger a couple of weeks ago. Shaun has started up his own guide service and primarily working on Donner and Englebright for now. You can check out his website here: http://shaunsguideservice.net/ or call him at: 530-802-4484. Check out his report below:
Best of the day was this nice laker close to 17 LB.

Last Monday I had a Grandfather and two Grandsons out and we caught a couple small lakers. We lost a bigger fish and had several takedowns, so I knew the big boys were almost ready to play.
Soon after, I planned a trip with my girlfriend. Even though the weather forecast was really chilly, she still agreed to go. When we arrived at the launch, the temperature guage read 6 degrees. The launch had a few inches of snow on it still, but it was crunchy. I figured I would deal with it after we got done!
The bite was slow, but I managed a decent Laker around 16.5 to 17 LB. I tried to hold the scale still, weighing the fish in the net, but it bounced a little from 19.5 to 19.12. The net weighs 2.11.
After pictures, I put her in the water to let her breathe some, then lifted her up and drove her home! I watched her swim straight down for at least 30 feet. This method is by far the best release technique I know of.
Should have more reports to you soon!
Take Care,
Shaun
