Jim Sutherland holding up one of his rainbows

This last Kootenay Lake derby of 2010 went Nov. 12, 13 & 14th. Compared to the previous two weeks all of the locals were disappointed with the lack of action. My results were about average with others over there. On the Friday I caught five, the largest about 12-pounds, two about eight-pounds and two shakers. I didn't take photos with the quite severe wind and rain. In fact, I didn't even net any fish, prefering to use plyers to release them next to the boat.
Sat. saw even more rain and heavier wind and I only caught three; two shakers and one in that 8-pound range. Sunday was calmer but the fish had even tighter lockjaw for me; one shaker early in the morning. Jim Sutherland on the other hand was cleaning up. He had a 12-pound bull and eight trout to 17-pounds on Friday and an almost identical day on Saturday sporting another 17-pound Gerard. The fishing however even slowed down for Jim on Sunday. The derby-winning fish ranged 18 pounds 2 ounces, to the winner, 18 pounds 13-ounces.
Oh well, maybe next year.
