Fishing
Report 10-7-05
Since I was staying with
my buddy John Werwie at Paulina for part of the week, it
was really convenient to have a couple of guide trips at
the same time. Saved a little gas to boot. Bill Sysum and
his father-in-law Russ meet me at the dock around 1:00 for
an afternoon run at the browns. The evening before had been
a little slower than I like so I hung in at Paulina for
an hour or so. We then made a corporate decision to head
to East.
My buddy Jimmy Lewis had been staying there since earlier
in the week and they had produced a lot of fish with one
pushing 4 Lb. We launched at the springs and went right
at it. I was running Excalibur Minnows and Luckycraft Pointers
and started out toward the campground through the springs.
We got into a few and then things got quiet. I made a move
and we got Russ into a nice 2 LB. male brown right off a
point I like. Really a beautiful specimen in full spawning
colors. As we continued on the run, Russ got going and landed
the next 7 browns we caught. Bill had started out with the
first 3 fish and then got to watch Russ get hot. The highlight
of the trip was the 24 in. hookjaw that Russ caught 50 yards
from the dock right before we went in. After some photos,
we released the 4.5 LB. brown to fight another day.
