Best brown of his trip was this nice male that weighed over 8 LB. Photo courtesy Dan Stewart.

Dan and I meet a couple of years ago when he ran his boat across Paulina Lake that October afternoon to get my help in taking some photos of him with his big male brown. He had just popped the gorgeous 13 LB. male a few minutes before ( you can see the mount in the Brown Mount photo galleries). I happened to be the closest boat and the lucky guy to get some better photos for him. That is how we met. Since then we have hooked up a few times to do something we both we love to do.......chase after big brown trout!
Dan got into the Brownbagger Club a couple of years back and we have joined up a few times to fish together when he is up here Oregon. We seem to enjoy each other's company and share many of the same interests. He is a dedicated angler who paints his own lures when he is not out pursuing big browns. In fact he brought me up a batch he had just painted for me. Some fantastic chub, rainbow and kokanee patterns.
Since my grandson was here for his last visit to Bend before he enters the Army, I didn't get as much time to fish with Dan as I had intended. Actually, we only ended up with one afternoon outing at Paulina Lake before he headed back to Bishop. We had a blast casting for browns and though I caught the most, he stuck the best brown of the evening.......a beautiful male brown of 5-6 LB.
Here are several of his photos of some of the better browns and rainbows he took from Wickiup and Paulina during his stay. I look forward to getting out with him again next spring when he returns.
Tight Lines,
Rick
