Since my wife, Jan, is retiring in a few more weeks, we had planned a maiden voyage of our (new to us) travel trailer up to Paulina Lake this past weekend. We will be "snow birding" for a few months in our old home town for part of the winter and will stay in the trailer as long as we can handle it. I hear they get pretty small, no matter how big they are.
With a warming trend coming on, we were excited to get up there. I promised her I would make the 7.5 mile hike around the lake if she would fish with me a little. She agreed and we managed our time nicely for the 3 days we were up there. It is such a gorgeous lake and with fall coming, some of the trees were just starting to turn. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, especially up in our mountains.
I had been up earlier in the week to fish with Dan Stewart and we both thoroughly enjoyed the time together. The fishing was tough and remained slow for most of Jan's and my stay. I did catch a few smaller browns and my policy is that I usually don't post too many photos of small browns. To me that would be fish under 5 LB. We didn't get any that size and I would say that a 3 LB. brown was tops. I did have two on that got off that would have been nicer fish.......definitely in the 5 LB. range of larger, but they were long distance releases.
The trailer worked out quite well and we really enjoyed our stay... sure beats tent camping. Do you know anyone who wants to buy a good used tent?
I will be heading up to fish Paulina off and on until the closure... check back for more reports.

Rick
