Dan Stewart with a nice 5 LB. hookjaw.

After my return from my wife's Mother's funeral in Indiana, I was itching to get out for some fall action on brown trout. It seems like fall is coming early this year and this one may be the prelude to a bigger winter if the Almanac is right. We have already had several storms so far.
I got a call from Dan Stewart, fellow Brownbagger, inviting me to join him for a couple of days at Paulina. I finally got out of town by Sunday afternoon and met Dan for an early evening outing. It was windy and cold with a slow, steady rain. We got a few smaller browns and I think by the time we pulled back onto shore right at dark, we had caught and released 5 browns to around 2.5 LB.
The next morning produced a little better weather as the storm moved East. We did some trolling until the sun got up a bit and landed several smaller browns before we changed gears to do some casting. Dan had the hot hand and landed 2 nice browns in the 4-5 LB. range before the bite slowed. We probably caught another 6-8 browns between us before we got off that evening. Nothing to write home about!
The next morning was slow for trolling and we scratched out a few dinks before I had to leave by noon. It was a pleasure to fish with Dan! He had been up in Oregon for several weeks and did catch some nicer browns to over 9 LB. before we hooked up. Maybe I can get him to send some of the photos. I will be heading back up later this week on the maiden voyage of our travel trailer with my wife. Look for a report early next week.
Tight Lines,
Rick
