Mike McNeilly with his PB cutt from Pyramid. Weighed in at over 12 LB. and was released. Congrats man!
I haven't been hitting Pyramid much, but it finally is getting pretty good
for some exceptionally large fish. I think the big age class of fish that
were in the 9-11Lb range last year mostly died after spawning. The few
fish that were in that age class and didn't spawn or survived the spawn
are really big. (12-15Lbs) I think overall it has been a very slow
season for fish over 10Lbs, but the fish that are being caught are very
large.
Like I said, I have been out there 4 times for a total of about 20
hours. I have mostly been focusing on steelhead fishing for most of the
winter. Despite not spending much time out there, I popped a giant the
other day ago at 12Lbs 3 oz. and 32". I caught it from the bank on a
marabou jig. I hauled it to Crosby's in a 120 quart cooler for the weigh
in, then I released it unharmed.
Best of Luck,
Mike
