The water here on Lake Michigan is warming up and so is the fishing. Fished a couple of trips this week and we are averaging over 20 brown trout per trip. The water has been clear so stealth presentations have been key. We are fishing in 20 to 30 feet of water. The key right now is getting stuff away from the boat. Trolling lead core lines behind in line planer boards is the best thing going. Long leads behind downriggers are coming in a close second. The fish haven't been too picky. A mix of crankbaits and spoons are doing most of the work. Fished on February20th and landed 26 with 9 browns over 10 pounds including 2 over 15. Some decent lake trout (macks) are starting to show up also. The bite is going to get better and better as the ice starts to dissappear from our harbors.
