The middle of October and we have things happening. Water temp is in that 56 degree area where anything may work on any given day. Some guys are telling me that they are having great days on plugs and apexes, the next guy will tell me that everything was taken on hair. So depends on the day the water conditions etc, etc. Colors have still been mostly purple/black, purple/black/white, black/whites, greys/whites, black/greys, and some pinks and reds. As for actual flies Brownies 201, 203, 213, 214, 215, 216, 223 Splitshots 215, 215 with uv mylar, Black racoon, Russ’s favourite in rainbow or uv mylar, root bear (Halloween), and the Nov special. In the Lyman’s 4” #16, 23, 60, 80, 105, and in the 5” #64, 98, and new 160. The apexes of choice in the 4.0 size have been Army truck, Doom, Cop car, and even the watermelon caught a 21 lb. rainbow. Flashers combined with hoochies, coyotes, and even silver hordes ace hi flies. The hot flasher has been the kingfisher onyx. By the way these kingfisher 2 flashers are designed to run at different speeds so you can pull them at the same time as bucktails.

Woodbury resort held there annual Thanksgiving derby and was very well attended, and the fishing was great. We don’t have pictures of the winners but as far as we know the following people were the winners. John Wayne Holcroft with a 21 ½ lb., Craig Abbott 20 ¾ lb. and Steve Sosa 20 lb. We haven’t seen a + 20 win a derby in quite a while so this result was fantastic. Congratulations to the winner’s nice fish. This past weekend the Nelson City Police held their annual derby at the Balfour Beach Inn and was well attended. The unofficial winning fish were as follows Mike Carr 18.74 lbs., Dan Hickie 17.1 lbs., and Mike Brodoff 16.93 lbs. these were the Rainbow winners in the Bull trout category Dave Sabo 11.39 lbs., Jeramie Gardner 8.69 lbs., Jeramie Gardner 8.15 lbs.

Also check out the pictures of Dallas who landed a 16lb 7 oz rainbow, and Russ who decided to give his 18lb and 6oz rainbow a big smooch, and Ron and friends with a 21 ½ Rainbow on as Splitshot Charter. Congratulations everyone !!
